1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair is the leading event of its kind. With editions in London, New York and Marrakech. As a fast growing space with a burgeoning number of clients and collectors, Christie's partnered with to facilitate its own conversations
around collecting and appreciating its contemporary African pieces.
For the inaugural Christie's x 1-54 partnership, the auction house commissioned a video to educate its clients about the importance of 1-54 as a dedicated home for contemporary African art. Voiced by the fair's founder Touria El-Gaoui, I developed a simple script to demonstrate the clear objectives of the fair: to provide a platform for the diverse myriad of creative voices from African and it's diaspora. The words were represented visually in order to let the audience focus on the importance of the message and heighten the premise that the fair itself is about giving voice and creating dialogue.
This iteration of the partnership took place in 2020 and was hosted online with a virtual fair on the Christie's website via Shorthand. I was responsible for the landing page copy for the virtual fair and for collecting and populating the CRM with copy for 80 galleries and over 200 artists, ensuring that clear and consistent tone of voice. Additionally, I produced copy for all campaign assets, including social media posts, digital banners, paid ads and print ads at Christie's London and Somerset House.
